DURANGO, CO — Purgatory Resort has announced that its bike park will not open in 2025 due to ongoing construction projects. The resort is focusing its resources on building a new triple chairlift and adding five new ski trails this summer, which will take priority over the bike park’s operations.
Despite the new lift and terrain expansion, which do not affect current bike park trails, the resort explained that the decision was made to ensure safety and prioritize the construction efforts. “To focus on the ski lift and trail construction and to maintain the safety of our guests, homeowners, and employees, the Purgatory Bike Park will take a sabbatical this season,” said a resort spokesperson, Rathbun.
The resort expressed its understanding of the disappointment for mountain biking enthusiasts, thanking them for their patience. While the bike park will be closed, Purgatory Resort assured visitors that work would continue on maintaining and improving the current bike trails. The resort aims to offer an enhanced biking experience when the park reopens in the future.
This temporary closure will allow the resort to dedicate its efforts and resources to the ski area upgrades, with plans to resume regular bike park operations once the construction is completed.
