Cassie Sharpe Claims Halfpipe Bronze at Freestyle Skiing World Championships

Canadian skier Cassie Sharpe earned the bronze medal in the halfpipe event at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Engadin, Switzerland.

Sharpe, the 2018 Pyeongchang gold medalist, was in fifth place after her first run, scoring 75.75 points. However, her second run was much stronger, with a score of 88.00, securing her a spot on the podium. She narrowly beat her teammate, Rachael Karker, who finished fourth with 86.25 points.

The gold medal went to 22-year-old Zoe Atkin of Great Britain, who made a remarkable comeback after falling during her first run. Atkin finished with 93.50 points, edging out China’s Li Fanghui by just half a point.

In the men’s halfpipe event, four Canadian skiers placed in the 7th to 10th positions. Brendan Mackay led the group in seventh place, followed by Dylan Marineau, Andrew Longino, and Noah Bowman.

In the freestyle jumping event, Canadian Alexandre Duchaine narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place.
