Federation Council is excited to announce free skate workshops in Howlong and Corowa, offering a great opportunity for young skaters of all skill levels to learn and have fun during the upcoming school holidays.
In partnership with Totem Skateboarding, Australia’s largest and longest-running skate event company, the Council is providing these workshops to inspire youth and help them develop their skateboarding skills.
The Schedule for The Workshops Is As Follows:
Howlong Skatepark: Tuesday, April 22 – Learn to Skate Workshop
Corowa Skatepark: Wednesday, April 23 – Learn to Skate Beginner Class, Mentoring Skate Session, and a Skate & Scooter JAM with exciting prizes.
Totem Skateboarding aims to inspire the next generation of skaters by promoting respect, knowledge, and fun in the sport.
They focus on community engagement, ensuring that everyone has the chance to participate and enjoy the experience.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook, expressed her excitement about the upcoming events, saying, “We are thrilled to offer these free workshops to the young members of our community. It’s a fantastic chance for them to learn new skills, have fun, and connect with others. These events not only encourage physical activity but also foster a sense of community spirit. We are particularly grateful to the NSW Government for their support through the Regional Youth Holiday Break – Autumn 2025 Grant.”
Mayor Cook also highlighted the support of the Federation Primary Prevention Team and Intereach, who will be on-site to provide important information on healthy lifestyles and available resources. “This holistic approach ensures our youth are supported in every aspect of their wellbeing,” she added.
The Federation Primary Prevention Team will offer advice on preventing drug and alcohol use and promoting healthy living. Intereach will provide information about their Reach Out And Relax (ROAR) Program. The Youth Council will also add to the fun with music, and attendees can enjoy free face painting and community BBQs.
The workshops are open to participants aged 6 and older. Professional-grade skateboards, helmets, and optional safety pads will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own equipment if preferred.
As space is limited, bookings are required. For the Corowa event, a return bus service will be available, with stops in Urana and Oaklands. A sausage sizzle and drinks will be provided for lunch.
