Guam Cyclists Compete in 7-Eleven MTB Race

On Sunday, Guam’s top cyclists, Blayde Blas, Jason Blas, and James Sardea, participated in the 7-Eleven Trail 2025 40KM Cross-Country Marathon held in San Mateo, Rizal, Philippines.

The event saw Blayde Blas, Guam’s national cycling champion, complete the challenging mountain bike race in an impressive 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 58 seconds. Jason Blas finished with a time of 3 hours, 9 minutes, and 11 seconds.

James Sardea, competing in the men’s 55 and above division, achieved a notable sixth-place finish with a time of 2 hours, 45 minutes, and 29 seconds. This marked a significant milestone for Sardea, who has now secured a top-10 podium finish after racing the event five times.

Sardea expressed his enthusiasm for the race and its potential impact on Guam’s cycling scene. “We are hoping to bring a bigger contingent next year to represent Guam,” he said. “Racing at this level, on such an awesome race course, will bring ideas back to Guam for creating something new and exciting on the island.”
