Shaun White, a five-time Olympian and three-time Olympic gold medalist in snowboarding, is launching a new professional snowboard league called The Snow League. The league will debut at Aspen Snowmass’ Buttermilk Mountain on March 7 and 8, 2025, marking the first of four global halfpipe competitions.

The Snow League’s Global Schedule

Aspen, Colorado (March 7-8, 2025): The inaugural event will feature 36 athletes from around the world competing in head-to-head competitions and a season-long points system.

Tickets for Qualifying Day are $20, while Finals Day tickets are $50, with a discount for Colorado residents if purchased before March 13.

Yunding Secret Garden Resort, Zhangjiakou, China (December 4-6, 2025): This stop is significant as it is where White concluded his Olympic career in 2022. Freeskiers will join the competition here, adding variety to the league.

Aspen, Colorado (February 26-28, 2026): The league returns to Aspen for its third stop, again featuring both snowboarding and freeskiing competitions.

LAAX, Switzerland (March 19-21, 2026): The final event will crown the first-ever Snow League World Champions in both snowboarding and freeskiing.

Impact and Goals

The Snow League aims to fill a gap in the sport by providing a structured competition series, which has been lacking. The league offers a substantial prize purse of at least $1.5 million, the highest in snow sports, surpassing the X Games by 50%. This financial incentive is designed to attract sponsorship opportunities for athletes and create a more solid fan base.

Lucas Foster, a Telluride-based Olympic snowboarder participating in the league, noted that The Snow League provides a much-needed structured series for aspiring professional riders, offering a pathway beyond just Olympic competitions.

By hosting ticketed and live events, The Snow League seeks to enhance fan engagement and provide a platform for newer competitors to gain recognition. The league’s format allows fans to follow athletes throughout the season, fostering storylines and rivalries that will elevate the sport.
