After a lengthy wait, the 2025 WSL Lexus Pipe Pro concluded with a thrilling finish on the final days of competition. The event, which utilized the full competition window, finally saw the much-anticipated 8-12 foot waves at Pipeline and Backdoor. These large, powerful waves set the stage for fast-paced, exciting heats. As the swell built, the energy on the beach soared, and the atmosphere in the water became electric.
Finals Day arrived with slightly smaller and less consistent waves but still offered clean conditions and favorable winds, keeping the crowd engaged throughout every heat. The standout performance came in the Final, where Barron Mamiya narrowly defeated Leonardo Fioravanti in a thrilling contest.
Mamiya took control early, posting two excellent scores within the first five minutes—a 9.8 and an 8.17. His quick and powerful surfing left the impression that the victory was already sealed. Fioravanti, however, wasn’t backing down. He started slow but turned up the heat midway through the final, posting an 8.87 and a 9.10, bringing the heat to a near tie with just nine minutes remaining.
Despite Fioravanti’s strong comeback, Mamiya maintained the highest wave total and priority, putting pressure on the Italian surfer. While Fioravanti battled through a significant deficit, he could not surpass Mamiya’s best wave. In the end, Mamiya emerged as the 2025 Pipe Pro Champion, securing back-to-back titles in a dramatic and unforgettable finale.
Earlier in the event, Mamiya had already shown his strength by eliminating defending World Champion John John Florence in the Round of 16. His dominant performance throughout the competition solidified his position as a top contender, and with this win, Barron Mamiya joins an elite group of surfers who have claimed back-to-back victories at Pipeline.
