SPANISH FORK, Utah — Gateway Parks in Spanish Fork is providing free access to a snowsports hill, making skiing and snowboarding accessible to everyone.
Ryan Neptune, the founder of Gateway Parks and a former U.S. Snowboard champion, is passionate about sharing his love for snowboarding with the community. “Skiing and snowboarding is my life,” Neptune said.
In contrast to some Utah resorts with day passes ranging from $100 to $300, Gateway Parks offers free access, supported by the revenue generated from its tubing park. Neptune recalls when lift tickets cost him only six dollars.
Neptune personally designs and builds the terrain parks. “I enjoy designing it,” Neptune said. He views the snowsports hill as a gift to the community. “This is their park,” Neptune said. “I’ve had a life that’s well lived when it comes to snowboarding, and this isn’t an attempt to give back: it’s just simply giving back”.
Gateway Parks in Spanish Fork is located at 2300 E Powerhouse Rd. The park is open weekdays from 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Gateway Parks also has locations in Eagle Island, Idaho, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and North Salt Lake, Utah.
