Lonavala: In a significant achievement, 17-year-old rock climber Devashree Kailas Chile successfully scaled the 300-foot Nagphani (Duke’s Nose) cliff near Kurwande, Lonavala, marking her first multi-pitch climb. The feat has garnered widespread praise for her determination and skill.

Duke’s Nose, located in Maharashtra, is known for its steep, rugged terrain and is considered one of the most challenging climbs in the region. The cliff is a popular spot for adventure camps but is notorious for its difficulty. Devashree, a 12th-grade student at D.P. Mehta Junior College, chose to start the New Year by tackling this formidable challenge and completed the climb successfully.

Devashree, who has been training in rock climbing for the past four years at the Shivdurga Mitra climbing wall, received guidance from experienced trainers including Sachin Gaikwad, Rohit Vartak, Yogesh Umbre, Sunil Gaikwad, and Omkar Padwal. Although she has competed in several artificial climbing competitions, this climb was her first venture into multi-pitch climbing.

The climb was supported by a dedicated team of climbers, including Aditya Pilane, Ayush Vartak, Karan Ware, Ayush Pawar, Siddhesh Nisal, Shruti Shinde, Avanti Vartak, and Kavita Pilane, who ensured the successful execution of the mission.

Devashree’s accomplishment is being celebrated by her trainers and supporters, and it serves as an inspiration to aspiring climbers across Maharashtra.
