Luca Martin has cemented his place among Australia’s top junior surfers after a standout performance at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles in Wollongong.
The Coffs Harbour Boardriders Club member claimed third place in the highly competitive Under 14 Boys division. Alongside Jai Nield, Martin also triumphed in the Under 16 Boys MR Shield (Schools) competition, securing an Australian title while representing Palm Beach Currumbin State High School.
As a result of his impressive achievements, Luca has earned a spot as the first reserve for the Under 14 Boys Irukandjis Australian Junior team, which will compete at the 2025 International Surfing Association World Junior Titles.
Luca’s success was mirrored by his fellow Coffs Harbour Boardriders Club surfers. Hamish Harrigan finished in seventh place in the Under 14 Boys competition, while Will Martin placed seventh in the Under 18 Boys. Teal Haigh also represented the club, securing ninth place in the Under 18 Girls division.
In other standout performances from the region, Sawtell Boardriders Club’s Rio Luther Barr finished seventh in the Under 16 Boys, showcasing his rising talent.
Woolgoolga Boardriders Club members Frankie and Lyla Freudenstein also competed at the event, with Lyla advancing to the third round of the Under 14 Girls competition, and Frankie making it to the second round.
These impressive results highlight the strength of the Coffs Coast surf scene, with local athletes continuing to make their mark on the national stage.
