Melbourne Beach Mayor Alison Dennington will participate in a skydiving fundraiser, “Elevate HER,” to support the Women’s Center of Brevard. The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 7, from noon to 4 p.m. at Skydive Sebastian. A ground party will accompany the skydive, featuring live music, food, and activities to encourage and cheer on the jumpers.
Mayor Dennington plans to jump from 13,500 feet. In her online fundraising account, she expressed her motivation: “I am jumping out of a plane because I believe in facing fears, overcoming challenges, and lifting others up in the process.”
Heather Profit, Community Relations Manager for the Women’s Center of Brevard, emphasized the significance of the event. She stated, “This event is a celebration of resilience—the resilience of the women we serve and the resilience of our community. Together, we’re not just raising funds; we’re raising awareness, raising spirits, and creating lasting change for those who need it the most.”
Profit highlighted that the Women’s Center has been a vital resource for nearly 50 years. “We’re not just providing services; we’re providing hope,” she said. This hope extends to those ready to rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault.
The fundraiser aims to elevate awareness and support for survivors, with participants encouraged to raise funds for the center’s programs that assist individuals in overcoming trauma.
