Rock Climber Seriously Injured in Fall at Killingly State Park

KILLINGLY, Conn. (WTNH) — A rock climber suffered serious injuries after falling from a cliff at Old Furnace State Park on the evening of November 24, 2024, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

The DEEP’s Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) responded to reports of an injured climber in the area known as Ross’ Cliffs. Two men were rock climbing when one of them fell and sustained significant injuries.

The injured climber was promptly transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

The DEEP EnCon is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall. Further details about the climber’s condition have not yet been released.

This incident highlights the risks associated with rock climbing and the importance of safety measures in outdoor activities.
