The Gran Fondo World Tour® (GFWT) is set to make waves in Iceland with the announcement of the Arctic Fish Midnight Special, a thrilling 211 km gravel race slated for June 28, 2025. Cyclists will embark on this unique journey at midnight, pedaling under the enchanting glow of the midnight sun through the breathtaking landscapes of the Westfjords.
This event marks a significant milestone for the GFWT, establishing it as the northernmost gravel race on its calendar, alongside the southernmost Karukinka Gravel Race in Chile’s Tierra del Fuego. Together, these events create a global tapestry of gravel racing, inviting adventurers to explore the world’s most remote and captivating corners on two wheels.
Dóra Björk, Race Director, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Gran Fondo World Tour and feature the Arctic Fish Midnight Special in their esteemed calendar. This event showcases Iceland as a premier destination for gravel cycling, and we can’t wait to welcome the Gran Fondo community to experience the unique landscapes and vibrant spirit of the Westfjords.”
Dani Buyo, CEO of Gran Fondo World Tour®, echoed this excitement, highlighting Iceland’s strategic importance as a gravel cycling hotspot. “Adding this event to our calendar is a significant step for us. Iceland is one of our favorite destinations for gravel trips, and we’re eager to offer our Gravel Fondo community the chance to participate in this landmark race,” he said.
