In an intense showdown at the La Concorde skatepark in Paris, 15-year-old Japanese skateboarding sensation Cocona Hiraki once again claimed the silver medal in the women’s park skateboarding event on Tuesday, August 6. Hiraki, hailing from Tomakomai in Hokkaido Prefecture, repeated her Tokyo 2020 success by finishing second, narrowly missing gold by less than a point.

Australia’s Arisa Trew clinched the gold with an impressive score of 93.18, while Hiraki followed closely with 92.63. Britain’s Sky Brown, a 16-year-old with ties to Japan, secured the bronze with a score of 92.31, mirroring her podium finish from the previous Olympics.

Despite the fierce competition, Hiraki expressed satisfaction with her performance. “I was able to give it my all and win a medal,” she told Kyodo News, adding that she has no regrets about her efforts in the event.

Starting the final round in third place, Hiraki delivered a stellar run that propelled her into second, showcasing her remarkable skill and composure under pressure. “I’m really happy,” she remarked. “I executed a run that I wanted to show everyone, and I’m glad I could perform it well.”
