Team GB’s skateboarding roster for the upcoming Olympics is gaining attention with the addition of Lola Tambling, who will team up with Sky Brown in the Women’s Park Skateboarding event.
Sky Brown, a familiar name in the skateboarding world, made history at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics by winning bronze at just 13 years old, becoming the youngest-ever British Olympic medallist. Now, at 16, Brown will be joined by 16-year-old Lola Tambling, a promising skater from Saltash, Cornwall.
Tambling has quickly made a name for herself in the skateboarding community. She was crowned British national champion in 2022 and has continued to impress, with her recent performance securing her sixth place at the World Championships in Sharjah last year and the 13th spot in the global rankings.
Joining Brown and Tambling on the Olympic stage will be 51-year-old veteran Andy MacDonald. The trio navigated a rigorous two-part Olympic Qualifying Series to earn their spots for Paris, with Tambling securing her place among the top 22 skaters despite not competing in the final qualifier.
Tambling’s journey began at the age of seven when she first stepped onto the skate park built by her father, professional BMX rider Martyn Tambling. By 11, she was already making waves in competitive skateboarding, showcasing her rapid rise in the sport.
As the Olympics approach, all eyes will be on this dynamic trio, with hopes high for a standout performance from Team GB’s youthful and talented skaters.
