In a heartbreaking incident at a Guangdong shopping mall, a young girl tragically lost her life during a children’s rock climbing event on Tuesday, July 30. The incident occurred when the girl began her climb without securing her safety harness, leading to a fatal fall.
The girl, who was participating in the event with her mother, suffered severe injuries from the fall and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite emergency medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31.
An investigation by the local sports department revealed that while the girl was wearing a safety helmet, the negligence of event staff allowed her to climb before her safety belt was properly fastened. The equipment used in the climbing event was thoroughly inspected, and no faults were found.
As a result of the tragic incident, the rock climbing project has been temporarily suspended while authorities review safety protocols to prevent future occurrences.
