McCall, Idaho Unveils Thrilling New Shuttle Run for Mountain Bikers

McCall, Idaho’s vibrant mountain biking scene has received a major boost with the introduction of an exhilarating new shuttle run. In 2023, the final segment of the Brundage to Bear Basin (B2BB) route was completed, offering mountain bikers a 12-mile descent with over 2,800 feet of vertical drop from Brundage Mountain’s summit.

While Brundage Mountain’s bike park features several trails, the B2BB route stands out by extending beyond the resort’s boundary, plunging steeply into the Bear Basin trail system below. This new trail has quickly gained acclaim as “the best 12 miles of mountain biking in McCall.”

According to a Brundage Mountain press release, the B2BB trail’s development spanned seven years. The process began with the opening of the Lakeview Vista trail in 2019, followed by Rock Garden in 2021. In 2023, the Central Idaho Mountain Bike Association (CIMBA) played a crucial role in completing the B2BB route. All three trails are classified as intermediate.

In a unique twist, Brundage Mountain now offers a shuttle service for the B2BB route. Rather than operating from the trail’s base, the shuttle picks up riders at the lower West Face Parking Lot at 9:30 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm from Wednesday to Sunday, transporting them back to the Brundage base area. Due to limited space—just four bikers per time slot—reservations are required 24 hours in advance.

The shuttle service, priced at $20, requires bikers to also use the chairlift to access the trail. For those without a day ticket ($45) or season pass ($99), a combined package including the shuttle and a single lift ride to the summit is available for $40. While this might seem costly compared to typical mountain bike shuttles, it provides a unique addition to a full day of biking at the park.

The current limit of four riders per slot could pose challenges, especially on busy weekends. If the shuttle service proves successful, Brundage Mountain may consider investing in a larger vehicle to accommodate more bikers in the future.
