The 2024 Singletrack 6 concluded after six intense days of racing through the picturesque West Kootenays, where early starts helped mitigate soaring temperatures. New champions emerged from the grueling competition held across various stages.

New Denver and Nakusp hosted the final two days of racing, showcasing some of the region’s finest trails. The latter stages featured challenging climbs, scenic waterfront finishes at Slocan Lake, and smoother flow, contrasting with the demanding trails of Castlegar and Nelson earlier in the week.

Sonya Looney claimed victory in the pro women’s category, capping her triumph with a stage win in Nakusp. She also secured the top spot in the timed downhill race-within-the-race. Amber Steed and Lindsay Glassford rounded out the podium for the pro women.

In the men’s competition, Quinton Disera dominated the event, capturing his first Singletrack 6 title. Despite challenges from Rob Britton and Peter Disera, Quinton maintained a commanding lead throughout the week. Peter Disera finished second overall, followed by Britton in third on the General Classification (GC).

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Jamie Bartlett excelled in the men’s timed descent race, securing first place ahead of both Disera brothers.

While Stage 6 in Nakusp highlighted podium finishes, Stage 5 in New Denver was noted for its vibrant atmosphere. Participants like James Williams and Carl Decker shared their experiences, encapsulating the essence of the event in their reflections from the West Kootenays.

The 2024 Singletrack 6 proved to be a challenging yet rewarding competition, showcasing the endurance and skill of its participants across the stunning landscapes of British Columbia’s West Kootenays.
