HEBER, Utah — Women mountain bikers of all experience levels are gearing up for a celebration of community and adventure as Heber prepares to host the International Women’s Mountain Biking Day Season Opener on Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event, presented by the Wasatch Trails Foundation in collaboration with WomenMTB, offers more than just time on the trail. Attendees can look forward to group rides, vendor booths, morning refreshments, and a midday barbecue. Riders will also have the opportunity to pick up their 2025 WomenMTB jerseys at the event.
Held annually on the first Saturday in May, International Women’s Mountain Biking Day is part of a growing global movement to celebrate and empower women in the sport. The day was first proposed by Andree Sanders of Trips for Kids Metro New York during the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s (IMBA) inaugural women’s summit in 2018.
Since then, it has evolved into a worldwide occasion marked by thousands of riders connecting through the #WomensMTBDay hashtag on social media.
Even for those unable to attend the Heber event, the IMBA is encouraging riders to take part in their own way.
“Women’s Mountain Biking Day is social media-driven,” IMBA explains on its official website. “Organizations and individuals are encouraged to use the day as a catalyst for grassroots engagement.”
