SAN DIMAS, CA — The venue for the 2028 Olympic mountain bike race has officially been chosen. Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas, California, will host the event. Situated in the San Gabriel Mountains, Bonelli Park spans 1,800 acres and will be upgraded to feature a world-class mountain biking course.
Located about 28 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, Bonelli Park has a long history of hosting competitive mountain bike races. The park has previously attracted top riders, including Switzerland’s Nino Schurter. Schurter, a three-time Olympic medalist, raced at Bonelli Park around a decade ago, long before he switched to 29-inch wheels.
As Schurter approaches his 39th birthday this May, it remains to be seen whether he will compete in the 2028 Olympics. At 42 years old by the time of the event, Schurter will face challenges from younger competitors, but his Olympic experience — including one bronze, one silver, and one gold medal — has solidified his place in mountain biking history.
Stay tuned for further updates on the event and its participants as the 2028 Summer Olympics approach.
