The popular SSAFA Skydive event, featuring the British Army’s world-class parachute display team, will return to Wiltshire on May 2. Following last year’s success, this thrilling tandem skydive offers participants the chance to experience the excitement of jumping from 13,000 feet while supporting the Armed Forces charity, SSAFA.
During the jump, participants will experience 40 seconds of exhilarating freefall with one of the Red Devils’ expert tandem instructors. Once the parachute is deployed, the descent continues for several minutes, giving adventurers a stunning aerial view of Netheravon and the surrounding countryside. Weather permitting, Stonehenge will also be visible from the skies.
Frank Boulton, an 83-year-old veteran who participated in last year’s skydive, shared his positive experience:
“The whole day was absolutely fantastic. I was a bit nervous at first, but the support from SSAFA’s events team and the encouragement from the Red Devils made me feel very comfortable. I’ve always wanted to do something extraordinary, and this skydive definitely fits the bill. The best part was meeting so many great people who were also taking the leap. SSAFA has done so much for me in the past, and this was my way of giving back and saying thank you.”
Founded in 1964, the Red Devils are an elite team of serving members of the Parachute Regiment. They showcase the incredible skills of the Army’s paratroopers, regularly performing at airshows and other events. This skydive event not only offers an adrenaline-filled adventure but also presents a unique opportunity to raise funds for SSAFA, which supports the Armed Forces community.
There are some requirements for participation: you must be over 16 years old and weigh less than 16 stone (102kg). There is no upper age limit, and those under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign consent forms on the day.
