OZ Trails, a prominent mountain biking network based in Northwest Arkansas, has unveiled plans to create a chairlift-served bike park in Bella Vista. This park is set to become the region’s first of its kind, offering enhanced access to riders of all skill levels.
The new OZ Trails Bike Park will span over 20 miles of trails and will be located at the intersection of Bella Vista and Bentonville, near Highway 71. This strategic location aims to draw not only local mountain biking enthusiasts but also visitors from across the region.
The park will feature a state-of-the-art high-speed chairlift system developed by Poma-Leitner, designed to provide easy access to various trail sections. This chairlift will connect seamlessly with the existing OZ Trails network, offering riders an elevated experience as they explore the Ozarks.
Construction is set to begin this spring, with several key developments planned for the park. These include:
- A full-service dining facility at the OZ Trails headquarters
- A comprehensive bike shop and rental center
- A community plaza and gathering spaces
- A purpose-built pump track for skill development
- A dedicated hiking trail
- Art installations scattered throughout the park
Tom Walton, CEO of Runway Group, emphasized the park’s role in integrating with the broader OZ Trails network. “What sets the Bike Park apart is its connection to the ever-expanding OZ Trails network,” he said. “As Northwest Arkansas’s first purpose-built gravity cycling facility, this park will further unite Bella Vista and Bentonville, cementing both cities as global cycling destinations. With a focus on progression, the park will cater to all riders—from beginners to experts.”
The park will also offer hiking opportunities and an art walk, broadening its appeal to a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts.
Bella Vista’s mayor, John Flynn, highlighted the significance of the project for the community. “The OZ Trails Bike Park represents a pivotal moment for outdoor recreation in Bella Vista,” he said. “Its location at the crossroads of existing trail networks like the Razorback Greenway and the Little Sugar Trail System makes it a central hub. This strengthens Bella Vista’s position as a prime destination for world-class cycling infrastructure.”
OZ Trails is known for its world-class trail system, showcasing the unique terrain of the Ozarks while connecting communities across Northwest Arkansas. This new addition is expected to further elevate the region’s reputation as a premier cycling destination.
