Sri Lanka’s top windsurfer, Priyantha Gunawardene, has made history by winning the 2025 Windsurfing Nationals for the second year in a row. The event, organized by the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka, took place at Bentota Picnic Beach on Saturday.

Gunawardene, currently ranked as the number one windsurfer in Sri Lanka, maintained his dominant form after securing last year’s title at Crow Island Beach in Mattakkuliya. His stellar performance earned him the coveted National Champion title once again in this prestigious event.

In second place was fellow Sri Lanka Navy sailor WAS Weeratunga, while the bronze medal was awarded to Kosala de Silva from the host Bentota Windsurfing Club.

The one-day competition featured top windsurfers from across the country, who competed for the national title. The event saw participation from eight registered clubs under the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka, including the Royal Colombo Yacht Club (RCYC), Ceylon Motor Yacht Club (CMYC), Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Club, Bentota Windsurfing Club, Ruhunu Sailing Association, Kalpitiya Windsports Club, Future Fibres Sailing Club, and Cinec Sailing Club.
