Florida-Based Sawyer Products Delivers Over 20,000 Water Filters and More to Aid Relief Efforts

In a significant effort to revolutionize disaster relief, Florida-based Sawyer Products has supplied and donated more than 20,000 water filters, nearly 1,000 32-ounce jugs of sunscreen, and over 5,300 bottles of Picaridin insect repellent to individuals impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. This vital assistance is made possible through collaboration with local first responders and organizations including the American Red Cross, Samaritan’s Purse, Convoy of Hope, Save Our Allies, WC Kitchen, Water by Women, and Waves for Water.

Following Hurricane Milton, widespread flooding has severely disrupted access to clean drinking water, leaving over 1.5 million people without safe supplies. The contamination of local water sources has prompted cities to issue boil-water advisories, making Sawyer’s donation of water filters an essential lifeline. This innovative approach moves away from the logistical challenges associated with bottled water, providing a quicker and more sustainable solution. A single Sawyer Tap Water Filter can replace two pallets (1,900 liters) of bottled water, delivering up to 500 gallons of clean drinking water per day. These compact and lightweight filters allow communities to safely draw water from compromised sources, reducing transportation delays and minimizing reliance on single-use plastics.

Sawyer’s advanced filtration technology, trusted by outdoor enthusiasts and utilized in international relief operations, effectively removes 99.99999% of bacteria and 99.9999% of protozoa. This capability is crucial for preventing waterborne illnesses such as cholera and E. coli, which can surge in the wake of natural disasters like Hurricane Milton. Given that many areas remain isolated after the storm, the portability and durability of Sawyer’s filtration systems are vital for both immediate relief and ongoing recovery efforts.

Designed for easy restoration, Sawyer’s filtration products can maintain their original flow rate even after heavy use, thanks to a backwashing system with an included cleaning plunger. Each filter undergoes rigorous testing to meet the Sawyer Standard, ensuring optimal reliability in the field during critical relief efforts.
