In a thrilling announcement, the 2024 Corona Fiji Pro is set to showcase 36 elite surfers from 12 countries, all vying for supremacy at the renowned Cloudbreak, Tavarua Island. The prestigious event kicked off with an official ceremony at the Marriott Fiji Resort in Nadi, led by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.

During the opening ceremony, President Katonivere expressed his gratitude for the collaborative effort that brought the World Surf League’s (WSL) World Tour competition to Fiji. He commended the WSL, Andrew Stark, and Ryan Crosby for their confidence in including Fiji as a tour destination.

The competition features 12 women and 24 men, with Fiji’s own wildcard participant, Tevita Gukilau, among the contenders. President Katonivere highlighted the passion driving the sport and anticipated a display of exceptional athleticism and grace over the coming days.

“Surfing, much like any sport, is fueled by passion,” Katonivere remarked. “We are here to celebrate not only the physical feats but also the intrinsic joy of riding the waves and the profound connection between humans and nature.”

He also announced that, under a three-year partnership between the World Surf League and the Fiji Government, Cloudbreak will remain a fixture on the tour until 2026.
