Paris, July 31, 2024 — Surfing competitions at the Paris Olympics, which were postponed on Tuesday due to adverse weather conditions, are anticipated to resume on Wednesday. The French Surfing Federation has announced that the women’s Round 3 is scheduled to restart at 12:00 PM GMT (5:30 PM IST), pending further updates.

The final decision on whether the competition will proceed will be announced later on Wednesday at 10:15 AM GMT (3:45 PM IST).

In a statement, the Federation noted: “There is a potential resumption of the competition on Wednesday, July 31, at noon local time in Tahiti (French midnight), featuring the women’s 8th finals. The final decision will be made Wednesday morning GMT in Tahiti (evening in Paris). Should the event resume, the #3 series, which includes competitors @vahinefierro and @johannedefay, is set to take place at 1:48 PM local time (1:48 AM French time).”

The competition was initially halted due to poor weather conditions. The strong swell that began affecting the area on Monday afternoon is expected to persist, generating waves exceeding 30 feet throughout the day. Additionally, the onshore winds, which are anticipated to shift to the southeast by noon, could impact conditions.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
